This policy explains what information MissionQual collects when you use missionqual.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have. "MissionQual", "we" and "us" mean MissionQual, based in Houston, Texas. Questions go to hello@missionqual.com.
The short version: we collect what we need to send you the Transition Guide, run the community and email you about it. We don't sell your information, and we don't hand it to employers or recruiters.
What we collect
When you ask for the Transition Guide
- Your email address.
- The page you signed up from and basic technical details about your browser (for example, the browser type). We use these to see which pages work and to stop spam signups.
When you create a community account
- Your name, email address and password. Your password is stored encrypted by our authentication provider. We never see it.
- Anything you add to your profile, such as your job title, location, years of experience, certifications, disciplines, the industry you came from, whether you're on a data center site or making the move, whether you're open to travel or relocation, your job-search status, and an "About" section. All of these are optional except your name.
When you use the community
- What you post: questions, answers, edits, votes, follows, reports and session RSVPs.
- Your email preferences, such as whether to email you when someone replies.
Automatically, when you visit
- Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs: IP address, browser, the pages requested and the time. These are used to keep the site running and secure.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't currently use analytics or tracking tools. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
How we use it
- To send you the Transition Guide and a short series of follow-up emails about the guide and the community.
- To create and run your account, show your profile and posts to other members, and send emails you've asked for, such as reply notifications.
- To send account emails: confirming your email, resetting your password, and important changes to the site or these policies.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, removing content that breaks the rules, and stopping spam and abuse.
- To understand what's useful and improve the site.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with employers, recruiters or staffing firms. Jobs on the site link to the employer's own posting. If you apply, you're dealing with them directly.
Who can see what
- Your profile and posts can be seen by other signed-in members. They aren't visible to people who aren't signed in, and they aren't open to search engines.
- Your email address is never shown to other members.
- Moderators (the MissionQual founders) can see reports and content that's been hidden, to keep the community running.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: database and account sign-in.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- MailerLite: guide and community emails.
- Resend: account emails and reply notifications.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of MissionQual. If that ever happens, this policy keeps applying to the information you've already given us.
Emails and your choices
- Every guide and community email has an unsubscribe link. Account emails (confirmations, password resets) still come through, because the account can't work without them.
- You can turn off reply notifications in your profile.
- You can edit your profile at any time, and edit or delete your own posts.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is open or while you're on our email list. To delete your account, or to have us delete your guide signup, email hello@missionqual.com from the address you used. We'll delete your account and profile, and remove you from our email lists, within 30 days.
Answers you posted may stay in the community without your name, so threads still make sense to the people who asked. If you want them removed too, say so in your email.
Some information may stay in backups or logs for a short time before it's overwritten. We also keep anything the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing you. Depending on where you live, state law may give you more rights. We'll honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. Email hello@missionqual.com, and we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account.
Security
We use well-established providers, encrypted connections and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee it. If something goes wrong that affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
MissionQual is for adults working in or moving into construction. It isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe someone under 18 has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also email members or post a notice on the site before the change takes effect.
